About us
What we do
We are a registered charity with a team of volunteers and a board of trustees drawn from the local community.
Our door is open to anyone who needs help and advice, no matter what the issue is.
We have a great deal of experience on helping people on many issues such as benefit claims, housing, employment and sensory impairment issues. If our expert volunteers can't help you directly we will try and find other sources of help in the area.
Our History
Set up in 1981 as Bolton Unemployed Advice centre, we have never closed our doors. Our senior advisor, Denise Lonsdale, ran the centre as a volunteer since the very early days and is still helping people who come into the centre today. Some of our other volunteers have been here for over twenty years and since we achieved charity status in 2020 our team has grown, bringing in more expertise so we can help even more people with even more specialist help.
